What actually is GapChase?

A little app that closes the gap between your bank transactions and the evidence behind them. It reads your statement, searches Gmail for the matching invoice or receipt, downloads the PDFs, files them into neat folders, and flags anything it can't find.

What statements can I upload?

CSV exports from your bank, PDF statements, or even a phone photo of a paper statement. Vision AI handles PDFs and images; CSV is parsed instantly.

Do you connect to my bank directly?

No. You upload the statement yourself. That keeps things simple and means we never need your banking credentials.

What does GapChase do with my Gmail?

Read-only search. For each transaction we look for emails matching the supplier, amount, and a ±5 day window, then download the receipt attachment. We don't read anything else, and we don't send email.

Where does the evidence end up?

Stored privately in the app, organised as Evidence / YYYY-MM / Merchant / __.pdf. If you connect Google Drive, we mirror the same folder tree there. Download the whole lot as a ZIP any time.

How is a match decided?

We score candidates by exact amount match (required), date proximity, and how well the supplier name overlaps with the email sender, subject, and body. The best-scoring email with an attachment wins. If nothing scores high enough, the transaction is flagged as a gap.

What happens to transactions with no receipt?

They stay in your results, marked in red. You can re-run just that row, attach a file manually, or ignore it.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your statements, transactions, and evidence are scoped to your account. Gmail access is read-only; Google Drive access is limited to files GapChase creates.

Do I need a Google account?

Yes — sign-in, Gmail search, and (optional) Drive sync all use Google.
